Dear Colleagues:

After 30+ years of service at MSU, Nathan Maher has announced his retirement, effective
July 3, 2019. I'd like to thank Nathan for his dedication and leadership, and for developing an effective program to meet stringent compliance requirements. Nathan's many contributions to supply chain innovation have been recognized by both the public and private sectors.  

On behalf of the University Services' team, I wish Nathan a heartfelt congratulations.

With Nathan's departure, I am pleased to announce that Dan Lanning has been selected as University Services' Head of Logistics, reporting to me. He will be responsible for the University Stores and Logistics, and Mail Services operations, as well as import and export compliance and risk mitigation. He will join us on June 20, 2019.

Dan has an extensive background in logistics and came to us from the General Formulations Company in Sparta, Michigan, where he was the supply chain manager. Prior to that, he served in the United States Air Force for 10 years as a materials manager, leading multinational teams of varied backgrounds. Deployed five times, Dan’s service accomplishments included the oversight of governmental and private sector supply chain initiatives, system design for USPS in war zones for all armed services, import/export and inventory management of critical components, and technical advancements including partnerships between the U.S. Air Force and Amazon that resulted in improvements in the Air Force-wide Base Operating Stock management system. 

Dan earned his BBA in Business Economics from Grand Valley State University and will complete his Masters in Supply Chain from Michigan State University in August 2019.
